Two new drawings!

See! I can be productive! :D

WARNING! The Korean in the first one might not make any sense D:

Supposed to say,
Panel 1: G-Dragon is hiding
panel 2: Escaping! Kekeke

Both will soon be added to my Big Bang FART page :)

iris

Iris is now available on Hulu. That is all.
watch it here. The only reason I’m promoting it is because I want every one to see how awesome TOP is as an assassin. orz

doodles

For the sake of keeping this blog up to date and keeping myself drawing regularly, here is an update. Both bits are bits of fan art. One I drew while I was watching Fringe on Hulu because I love Anna Torv as Olivia Dunham. Anyway, for now the pictures are taken with my web cam because I’m too lazy to go to my desktop computer and scan them. T_T

The other page is different expressions of Seungri. I just feel like Seungri is the easiest to draw as a caricature out of Big Bang, so I will probably use him to practice different expressions. I want to do different expressions with the other members, and just different faces in general. I think Youngbae (Taeyang will be especially challenging because I rarely draw him…) But anyway, here’s our favorite cute and indestructible magnae! ^^ It doesn’t even look like him, but whatever.

TWENTY

So, It’s been a while since I updated… Also, it’s my 20th birthday today, and Kang Daesung’s Birthday in Korea… so… yay! Here’s some images that I have generated with my hand…

So… here are images from a project I never finished. I never even got around to drawing Youngbae. :(

My birthday~ I didn’t have a big celebration, but I had a cake and got flowers. :)

Proper Fangirl Attack

All I can say is, I will most definitely be doing that little flappy hand dance.

I CANNOT WAIT for the official release of this video! *__*

Take it while it lasts!

So I’m in a really productive mood today. I made 3 artist trading cards and I plan to make many many more. See what I have so far, view them in the tab titled “atc”. Hopefully I can make at least one more before tonight.

If you go to the sketchbooks section, you’ll see that I finally added more pages to both sketchbooks. I’ll probably start adding a third sketchbook soon! Please look out for those!

So I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it on this blog yet, but I’m currently studying Korean. Obviously because of my current love for Korean pop culture. I really love learning new things so much because I think it’s a good way to find inspiration for art. I even bought a Korean text book. I bought it because I want to use it as a reminder that I want to get serious about learning new languages. I also plan to buy a German text book when I have enough money. Those are the two languages I’ currently trying to learn.

I dunno, I just think when you’re in a field where you do something creative it’s important to keep and open mind, and sort of approach everything like you’re seeing it for the first time, even if you’re really familiar with it. It’s always good to keep a fresh mind.

This reminds me that I need to continue with my physics studies. Since I didn’t study physics in high school because I was pretty sure I would fail, I decided to study it independently especially since I have such a strong interest in Astronomy. I really love astronomy.

I also want to get back into comic books. There’s a really cool comic book shop that my humanities teacher told the class about last semester. He sent us there to get books for class since we had to read a bunch of comic books for class. It was a pretty great class, there were times when it was really boring, but his over all style and method are pretty cool. We got to watch a lot of cartoons as well. hehe.

I’ve been watching YGTV a lot lately. I love it so much. It makes me wish I was friends with Big Bang and 2NE1 haha. They’re such awesome people with such vibrant personalities.

Anyway, I’m going to get to work on some more ATC’s.

Later~

Now I leave you with a picture of 섹시!탑 [sexy!TOP]

Update!

So I failed miserably at the “photo-a-day” project. Mostly because I’m lazy and also because I don’t want to take pics using my camera phone when I have a nice DSLR but the lens is currently broken and I need to get it fixed. :(

Since I’ve been well immersed in the K-pop (specifically Big Bang) fandom, it is only logical to assume that I have incorporated it into my art work. I am currently working on illustrations of each Big Bang member in such a style that is inspired by Disney/Pixar characters. There’s probably some Dreamworks influence in there as well. ;D

My very first sketch is of Big Bang’s over-zealous and horrifically energetic maknae, Seungri!

I decided that I’m going to make a special page just for my fan art. And to shorten the term “fan art” I decided I am going to call it FART, because I have the maturity level of a 120year-old boy. Keep in mind, I’m nearly 20 years old. I know it’s not old, but I think it’s a bit strange  that I would be so amused by the word FART. anyway. That will be going up very soon.

I am currently in the process of coloring Seungri.

Hopefully I can stick it out with this project. I will also be adding some new links to the sidebar for the sake of shameless self promotion. :)

Later!

Further Fangirling

08/09/2009 1 comment

So, last week, I received in the mail some packages that I was very excited and anxious to receive. Unfortunately for any intellectuals out there, it wasn’t anything morally stimulating or anything like school or work related, if anything it was just m merchandise to further feed into my greedy indulgences as a fangirl.

In the morning my Big Bang Photobook arrived.I got a wake up call from my little cousin who was downstairs, saying that there was a surprise for me. Of course I had to assume my package had arrived, the only other possibility could have been that Choi Seunghyun himself came all the way from Japan to sweep me off my feet. Er, anywho, it was my book, and I was damn well excited.

I was slightly disappointed by the postal packaging. It didn’t come in a box so the plastic edges of the book container were bent, broken and damaged. You’d think or at least hope that whoever packs these things, would say, “Hey this looks a little flimsy, how’s about we stick in in a box?”

Either way, the book itself was the most important. The book was certainly more than I expected. Aside from the obvious photos, member profiles and snippets of band history, there were a few other details that made me love it even more.

Accompanying a majority of the pictures in the book was either specs on the camera used for the photographs or detail on the clothes each member was wearing. Yes, just like a fashion magazine. Of course, I spazzed out. How could I not ? I love photography, I love fashion and I love Big Bang, so this was like my dream book. Not just that, but being a photo book, it’s going to come it handy for my illustrations I’m making of Big Bang for a large poster I’m designing to put up i my room (details on that later).

The pages are a great combination of matte and glossy finishes. The typography was really well done and the extra photo shop elements were really nicely put together. And aside from all that they had to further push my regression into my 8-year-old fangirly self by including stickers. Yes, stickers of Big Bang. They also included a VIP keychain (which I forgot to take a picture of, but it’s there, and I love it).

Then, just a few hours later, my DVDs came in the mail. I didn’t expect they would arrive until the end of the week. This only made my day even better. I’m always thrown by great packaging, I think packaging is a really important part of selling a product. I’ve also heard that Big Bang merchandise is known for it’s great packaging, so there’s no way I’m not gonna buy their stuff.

The DVD case comes in a really sturdy black box that has little 3D cut outs on the top lid of Big Bang singing on a stage. Inside the box is the glossy DVD folder which contains 3 DVDs, the original concert show, the version that was aired on TV and the special features disc. Even the folder had a little pop up part on it with the ‘Big Show’ sign.

It cam with an awesome little photobook. Resilient color on high gloss pages. I  loved it. This whole set is awesome to have.

I would talk about the dvd content it self but I don’t wan’t to spoil it for anyone. I’ll just say, it’s freakin AWESOME. You will disappointed in NO WAY.

Also, for those of you who don’t know, Big Bang’s G-Dragon has created an account on me2day.net which is like a Korean version of twitter. I joined for the sole purpose of following G-Dragon’s posts, and believe me, it’s so worth it because that man spam-posts like there is no tomorrow. Not just text posts, he posts pictures! And his latest post is a clip from one of the tracks off his new solo album! It sounds really tight and fresh. I love it and I’m super excited about the new album.  Click here to check out his profile. FYI if you plan on joining, it helps to know Korean. I know like 4 words in Korean and I don’t know what half the stuff on that site says, but I don’t care. Big Bang is my love right now, so i do what i can to stay up to date.

In other news! I have t-shirt designs up at RedBubble.com! I think you should check them out and help a broke college kid out.

I’m also getting my super old sewing machine fixed so I can stimulate my interest in textiles, particularly fashion design and possibly the making of adorable plushies.

In the mean time, check out my RedBubble page and help me make some dollaz~ I plan on making some designs for Mexican Independence day coming up in September! Keep an eye out for it!

My Fandom is Hungry

[SORRY ABOUT THE MILLIONS OF TYPOS-- I'm REALLY lazy when it comes to proof reading!!!]

It’s been a very long time since I last posted. So please indulge me and allow me to regale you with the adventures I’ve had as a fangirl.

So I last left you with my Star Trek obsession. Unfortunately I did not treat it well and kind of forgot about the TV show after watching the film. I started watching season 1 of The Next Generation but didn’t make it very far past episode 15 or something because to be honest, even though I mildly enjoyed watching that show, it began to feel like a chore.

While I will always love the Original Star Trek series, the other series haven’t seemed to attract me nearly as much… to be honest I think Spock is what kept me going through out the Original Series. And the movie!!! I’m sure many people have already watched The Latest Start Trek film, so I shall talk about it. Just as everyone has already said, it’s a great film for anyone who’s up for a good sci-fi action movie. You don’t have to be a Trekkie or Trekker to enjoy it. Being something of a Zach Quinto fan already, I was super psyched about the film (Yes, I am excited about the next season of Heroes). Quinto made Spock a whole new kind of sexy for me. I’m sorry if you’re reading this and you’re like “Ew, you think that pointy-eared motha f*cka is sexy? WHAT YOU BE ON, GURL??” But, WATCH the Star Trek film and you will understand. Plus, if Spock’s spectacular logic isn’t sexy, I don’t know what is…

Now onto my current obsessions…

I enjoy learning new languages, and  by exploring these new languages I try to find appropriate media. When I was first trying to learn German I started listening to German Music. My first German band was Rammstein when I was about 12 or 13, then I started listening to MIA. then Tokio Hotel when I was in high school. I became a huge Tokio Hotel fangirl when I was a senior in high school. I’m also excited about their newest album Humanoid which is due October 2nd. I’m still laughing at the Kaulitz twin’s new hair styles, but whatevs, as long as the album rocks, right? And all is well since Tom Kaulitz has been keeping the fans quiet and tame with his blog for the time being until the album drops.

But that’s not the fandom I wanted to rant about, my current obsession, is none other than the fantabulous Korean pop group, Big Bang! So I’ll start with this Korean obsession from the beginning….

It all started a few months back when I decided to finally watch Hana Yori Dango. Then i found out there was a Korean version Kkotboda Namja (someone had also recommended it to me), and I got really into it. I actually enjoyed the Korean version a lot more than the Japanese version only because it was longer and there was more to watch and I fell absolutely in love with the way Lee Min Ho portrayed Gu Jun Pyo. I also really loved how Ku Hye Seon portrayed Geum Jan Di, that woman is such a fantastic actress, and she’s SO CUTE! XD And of course I cannot fail to mention the rest of the F4 boys, Kim Hyun Joong (who is the leader of pop group SS501) and Kim Bum and Kim Joon. They were all really great. Unlike the F4 guys in Hana Yori Dango, all of the F4 guys in Kkotboda Namja all stood out to me, even if Woo Bin didn’t really get his own back story, all they really had was that moment when he was walking on the edge of the bridge alone while he imagined a conversation with Yi Jung… he was imaginig that wasn’t he? Anyway, I love that show. And that made me interested in learning Korean, I might as well since there’s a pretty big Korean population in Chicago hehe.

Then came along Big Bang, I had heard of them previously, the only member from their group I had seen pictures of was Tae Yang (Dong young Bae). I didn’t take much interest in looking them up because I was too busy fangirling over Spock. But when I finally got around to Youtube-ing them, the first video I saw was the one for their CF with 2NE1 for “Lollipop” and HOLY CRAP I GOT SUPER ADDICTED. I gotta tell you, since TOP was the first one to sing, I was enchanted by his deep sexy voice and that was it. I was in love.  It’s a song for an advert so of course the tune is ridiculous addictive.  Watch the video here.

I soon started looking into their other music. I became so addicted to Big Bang that it was hindering my further exploration into the world of KPOP. Fortunately I have a bunch of other Kpop artists lined up that I have sampled and enjoyed and plan to buy their music once my Big Bang obsession had died down  a bit.

But for now, I am taking my sweet time in enjoying the Big Bang fandom. Right now the group is in Japan, doing preparing their debut album in Japan. I’m excited for them and i know they’ll be recieved well, they’re supposed to be there for the rest of the year. Anyway, Thanks to Big Bang I’ve become more enthusiastic about learning Korean and about Korean culture. I’ve been trying to cook Korean dishes (Bibimbap is THE BEST!! I also really love Kimchi!), I’ve been watching the Korean channel hahah, that’s really the only thing I watch right now, and I love their variety or reality shows. And of course their dramas.

T.O.P aka Choi Seunghyun aka Tabi aka Mr.Sexy Voice Man aka My Husband but he just doesnt know it

T.O.P aka Choi Seunghyun aka Tabi aka Mr.Sexy Voice Man aka My Husband but he just doesn't know it

It’s all thanks to Big Bang. I really love how awesome Korean stars are, they’re so involved with everything they do, and they work so hard!! I really ad mire that.

And now to rant a little more about Big Bang. I bought their first photo book, and their latest DVD, the Big Show 2009 dvd. I ordered the Korean version (i’ll just have to change the region code on my DVD drive to watch it, but I think it’ll be worth it). I’m really excited about those, i think they should be getting here by the end of this week or early next week.

Also I LOVE the parodies that they do! They are so hilarious. They’ve already parodied three different dramas. They did a pardoy of Boys over Flowers called ‘Flower Big Bang’ (watch part 1 and part 2 here). They did a parody for The First Shop of Coffee Prince, which i have yet to watch called ‘Coffe Bangs Five’ (watch it here). And their latest one (which is on their latest concert DVD [big show]) is of Beethoven Virus, it’s called ‘Big Bang Virus’ (watch it here).

TOP is definitely my favorite. I love his eyes, his voice, his overall awesomeness… When I looked into their history and found out about TOP’s weight loss, the word “thinspiration” finally had meaning for me. haha. I never made any positive connections with that word in the past but now i do thanks to TOP.

ALSO! They have their own little cartoon character called BANG*S. How freakin adorable is that? I really love the style that the artist used. The comic strips are adorable! You can find them here at their cyworld page. I found a translated version of it on livejournal. It’s really too cute!

And to close this entry, I give you Big Bang’s latest Japanese video, Gara Gara Go!
